George Michael: 'Liam Gallagher Complimentary About My Music'

Singer denies Beady Eye frontman walked out of recent London show.

George Michael has defended Liam Gallagher after it was reported that the former Oasis man had walked out of a recent show of his.

Earlier this week it was claimed that Gallagher left George Michael's London show after just 23 minutes, preferring to stand at the bar with Beady Eye bandmate Andy Bell instead. However, Michael has since launched a staunch defence of his friend via his Twitter page, saying that Liam has always been "very complimentary" about his music.

"Please don't hold it against Liam that he popped off to the bar at Saturday's show", Michael tweeted. "He's a lovely guy and has always been really friendly to me and very complimentary about my music." Explaining that Gallagher left the show to get away from onlookers making him uncomfortable, Michael added: "He was getting a load hassle from people who spotted him so it's not surprising he went for for a bevvy :)"

All of Michael's tweets were subsequently re-tweeted by former All Saints star Nicole Appleton, Gallagher's wife, with whom he had attended the Earl's Court concert.

The show Gallagher allegedly walked out on was part of Michael’s Symphonica Tour and was the second of three London dates rescheduled following his battle with pneumonia in 2011.

The singer recently cancelled a run of shows in Australia, citing "major anxiety" as the reason behind his decision.
